Cheticamp is an Acadian fishing village located beneath the Cape Breton Highlands on the Gulf of St. Lawrence.  It offers a variety of recreational opportunities including an 18-hole golf course, whale tours, fly fishing, deep sea fishing, sailing/boating, horseback riding and hiking trails.  Cheticamp's services include: restaurants, stores, financial services, museums, a hospital, a public wharf and an indoor ice rink/arena. An entrance to the Cape Breton Highlands National Park and a visitor centre are located at the northern edge of the village. Cheticamp features warm Acadian hospitality, Acadian cuisine and Celtic music.
Cape Breton Island was recently named the world's second best tourist destination (after the Norwegian fjords) in the National Geographic Traveler magazine. Cape Breton Island is also home to the Cabot Trail, one of the top 5 road trips in Canada as recently noted in Canada's national newspaper, The Globe & Mail. The Cabot Trail is a route that skirts rugged peaks, waterfalls and high headlands, offering spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
